A Business Model for Sustainable Value Creation

Socially Responsible Business: A Model for a Sustainable Future
This project pioneered the Sustainable Value Creation Business Model in 2017. Commissioned by the Investment and Enterprise Development Section, Investment and Innovation Division at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) and funded by the ESCAP Business Advisory Council, this project developed a business model for sustainable value creation. The model helped companies adhered to the United Nations Global Compact, foster more inclusive, sustainable business practices and assisted public and private stakeholders in the development of socially responsible business practices in Asia and the Pacific. The model also assisted businesses to meet the long long-term economic, social and environmental objectives and expectations of investors, stakeholders and communities in the locations where they operate within. The primary purpose of this project was to introduce the model into companies operating in Asia and the Pacific, ultimately, helping participant organizations make better decisions to forge a sustainable future for the communities they serve.
The project engaged corporations and government officials operating in Asia and the Pacific with a mixture of conceptual and practical sustainable business frameworks to contribute to the development of the sustainable value creation business model. The project supported the development and implementation of capacity building materials for corporate and government leaders. An SDG impact assessment was also mainstreamed across the project and engaged as an area of strategic focus.
