The Gender and Social Development international consultant will be responsible for mainstreaming gender perspective in our flagship project ‘Gender Aspects of Climate Change and Sustainable Development: A Global Overview’ and IBF’s workstreams projects: sustainable business, corporate sustainability, subnational and sustainable landscapes in the Global South (Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and Africa)

The position will support the development of products and project components, such as the Women Sustainability Forum and the International Sustainable Futures Forum. Our most iconic event gathering +500 partners across regions. Main responsibilities include developing and monitoring of gender-related projects for both regions; developing gender action plans for Gender and Sustainable Development (GSD) concept notes and funding proposals; capacity building workshops/webinars; gender screening tools; among other responsibilities. In addition, the position will require providing IBF ad hoc  technical assistance to businesses, national and subnational counterparties, such as supporting the implementation of their GSD action plans for the development of IBF’s global programme.

Requirements

Preferably a Master’s degree in Gender, Public Policy, Public Administration, Development, Social and Economic Affairs, Environmental Economics, or a relevant field

  • 5 years of relevant working experience in the field of GSD
  • Knowledge of GSD methodologies is required
  • Experience working in an International, decentralized organization is desirable
  • Experience leading workshops/webinars in hybrid format
  • Experience and familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks, TCFD and SDGs
  • Excellent verbal and written fluency in English and Spanish

The international consultant will support and help organize the community of practice ‘International Boards for Sustainable Futures’ to foster greater information and knowledge exchange with key stakeholders and partners across +25 countries to support activities to increase awareness of the Boards’ work and achievements globally.

IBF is implementing several programs related to scaling up international best practices undertaken by our partners. It is envisaged that a more robust international board for sustainable futures can be established, something many of our partners have long called for as a way to motivate the transformational change needed to achieve our ambitious goals, in alignment with the international agenda for sustainable development.  The international consultant will provide technical assistance and capacity building to businesses and government counterparts to improve their readiness engagement with the International Board for Sustainable Futures. These programs support the design of projects and policies for pilot programs and strengthening of our corporate identity and sustainable branding.

Requirements

  • Preferably a Master’s degree in business, social science, public relations, public administration, or another communications field.
  • Minimum four (4) years of public relations, administrative, project assistant/coordinator or program experience at the national or international level.
  • Strong command of spoken and written English and Spanish (Knowledge of Portuguese would be an asset).
  • Knowledge of systems and/or network analysis.
  • Experience working in communications for organizations involved in sustainable development, sustainable/responsible business, gender, climate change and/or carbon markets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), social media and community management
  • Organized with excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work with international, multicultural teams

Coordinate closely with the International Boards for Sustainable Futures (IBF) in the Amazon and South-East Asia and regional teams, as needed, to build complementary capabilities and stronger technical delivery to the recently funded project on ethical sourcing and the role of corporate supply chains in sustainable ecosystems.

The international consultant will also be responsible for developing strong networks among other government institutions, NGOs, private sector stakeholders (ie. investors) and other relevant parties that could support and facilitate IBF´s impact through the project. She/he will also be accountable for coordinating with IBF Board members to support and assist in international outreach related activities.

  • Research and program management experience at the national or international levels

International Consultant

The role of the consultant is to ensure small medium enterprises meet project technical requirements. She/He will support process integrity in project operation and specific project/output delivery, fully comply with established institutional policies, standards and donor requirements across budget execution, procurement and other operational functions. She/He will also be responsible for the preparation of the concept notes, proposals, stakeholder analysis and logical frameworks as an integral part of any new programme planning process in coordination with the client/donor. Finally, the international consultant will advise on the project documentation and preparation and execution of hybrid events and any other duties assigned.

Requirements

  • Preferably Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, business management, business administration, sustainability, ecosystem services, agriculture or related field of study required
  • Minimum 5 years of professional work experience in international development with good knowledge of proposal development and project cycle
  • Advanced technical knowledge in several of the following areas: project financial management, database management, information technology systems, knowledge management/communications welcome
  • Work experience working with an international organization, and/or in an English-speaking work environment will be an important advantage
  • Reasonable knowledge on The Federated States of Micronesia/Pacific Island countries
  • Advanced ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English

Our International Fellowship Program is an empowering platform that brings field work to the desktop, and is designed for students and recent graduates all to gain experience on the impact of large projects on the social, economic and environmental aspects of local communities and the environment, sustainability and sustainable development  broadly. Fellows will be awarded a certificate at the end of their Fellowship.

Fellows carry out rigorous consultancy work and research in developing contexts to help build the case for business and interlinkages with sustainability, sustainable development and climate change. They also embark on quarterly publications developed by us and/or in collaboration with the International Board for a Sustainable Future.  IBF’s Fellows get certified working and field work experience.
