IBF supports organizations operating in the extractive resource ecosystem into inclusive and sustainable development. It does this by building capacity training, institutional partnerships, conducting action research and providing executive advice to corporations, governments and impacted communities.

Grounded on substantive stakeholder engagement, mapping and community consultation, IBF delivered tangible outcomes on the advancement and the implementation of social responsibility agendas in poorly governed resource-rich regions. The project resulted in tools and methodologies to help stakeholders in Australia and Latin America deliver sustainable legacies for communities adjacent to mining operations. Stakeholder engagement and community consultation outputs showed that lack of regional connectivity in governance and conflict prevented companies from playing a stronger role in forging sustainable livelihoods. In this context, our work equipped stakeholders with a broader understanding of the contribution of businesses in delivering sustainable community development outcomes. Our outputs led to capacity-building and training material as well as institutional partnerships in resource regions of Latin America with differing governance nexus with private enterprise.
